Overview

Living in Pelican Bay

Pelican Bay is a 2,330-acre master-planned community in North Naples that runs along about three miles of private Gulf beach. Coral Ridge Properties bought the land from Barron Collier in 1972 and planned it around the Clam Bay mangroves, keeping the natural shoreline in place. Today it holds about 6,500 residences across 95 associations.

Every owner belongs to the Pelican Bay Foundation, which runs the shared amenities. Residents ride an open-air tram to two private beaches with attendant service, then grab lunch at Marker 36 or the Sandbar. A 25,000 sq ft Community Center, two tennis centers and miles of berm paths round out daily life.

Homes range from high-rise Gulf-view condos to coach homes, villas and single-family estates in areas like Pelican Bay Woods. Waterside Shops, Artis-Naples and the Ritz-Carlton sit right next door, and downtown Naples is about 10 minutes south. Many residents rarely need a car, since the tram, berm paths and nearby shops cover daily errands. Southwest Florida International Airport is about 30 minutes north.
